Washington, D.C. Office Managing Partner Eileen Brown was featured in Law.com’s “How I Made It” series, sharing insights from her career trajectory, challenges as an office managing partner, and more.
Eileen previously worked in-house as an attorney adviser with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd) before joining Thompson Coburn in 1998. “Interestingly, I had never really wanted to work for a law firm and was not looking to make a move at the time. While at MarAd, I had been working on a transaction with an attorney at Thompson Coburn,” she said. “We really hit it off, and when the opportunity to presented itself, I decided to take the leap. It was the best decision I have ever made.”
Eileen began serving as managing partner of the D.C. office in 2020. For lawyers who want to rise up the ranks to lead an office, Eileen told Law.com, “I would stress the importance of developing relationships with your partners and colleagues.
