As a relentless network builder, Ben Grove leverages his bipartisan connections in Washington and throughout the country to link clients to Congress, the current administration and each other.

Ben provides strategic counsel on mission-critical legislative priorities, distilling complicated technical issues into compelling briefs that identify key decision-makers, flag conflicts and uncover common ground between parties. Though his practice spans many industry sectors, Ben most frequently engages on issues related to education, including K-12, STEM and higher education, as well as education appropriations issues. He successfully lobbied for and secured passage of the Christa McAuliffe Commemorative Coin Act, the sale of which benefited FIRST, one of the world’s largest nonprofit STEM education programs for students. He also frequently advises and engages with clients regarding congressionally directed spending requests, including recently securing over a half-million dollars for nonprofit clients in the most recent fiscal year.

Before joining Thompson Coburn, Ben served as a staffer to the House Committee on Homeland Security. He uses this experience to help clients develop legislative strategies and navigate their path to a successful outcome.

He serves on the board of the Diversity in Government Relations Coalition, which is working to create a more diverse government affairs workforce. He also serves as president emeritus of Q Street, the professional association of nearly 3,000 LGBTQ lobbyists and public policy advocates in Washington. He previously served as president of the organization from 2018-2023 and has been on its Board of Directors for over a decade.

I enjoy cooking, hiking in Shenandoah National Park with my dog and husband, and participating in obstacle course races along the East Coast. I particularly love experimenting with new tiki cocktail recipes and finding new trails for the family to visit. Each year, I challenge myself with a 30-mile obstacle course at Killington Ski Resort, which tests my physical and mental endurance.”
