Evelyn Clark’s practice focuses on international trade and regulatory compliance, providing guidance to clients navigating the ever-changing landscape of global trade through complex import/export regulations, international sanctions, and due diligence evaluations.

Evelyn represents clients in their relationships with Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. International Trade Commission, bringing creativity and attention to detail to the navigation of complicated federal regulations. She has extensive experience in drafting protests to Customs, providing multifaceted country of origin and product classification analyses, perfecting disclosures and valuation audits, and managing internal due diligence and risk assessment procedures.

She empowers clients to stay ahead with internal audits that minimize legal risks. Evelyn supports clients in a diverse range of industries, from USMCA verifications of textiles to the classification of discrete chemicals under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. She gives practical advice on changing laws, such as sanctions impacting Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, and Section 301 tariffs on imports from China, including potential exemptions. Her strategies protect resources and reduce legal risks tied to controlled exports.

Evelyn’s commitment to diversity and inclusion has fueled her passion for advocacy personally and professionally. She attended law school shortly after a spinal cord injury left her partially paralyzed from the chest down. Through law school, she studied – and experienced – the Americans with Disabilities Act, and has become a voice at the intersection of the law and its practical implications. She serves as co-chair of the firm’s LGBTQ+ affinity group.
